Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany’s |
She might have called herself a "no-name slob", but protagonist Holly
Golightly, of Breakfast at Tiffany's fame, has just been crowned a
beauty icon for her much storied beehive hair 'do.
The New York society girl, who was originally imagined by author
Truman Capote, has remained the poster girl for bouffant up 'do, since
the 1961 screen adaptation starring the late Audrey Hepburn as Holly. 52
years on, Hepburn's hair still tops the polls for the most iconic
hairstyles of all time.

"The image of her with her dark hair piled up while she
is holding a cigarette holder is one of the most recognisable film
images of all time," explains Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, global creative
director for Toni & Guy and conductor of the survey to the
Mail Online.
"The fact that the famous style is still topping these
kinds of lists half a century since the film was released shows how
iconic it really is."

Close on Hepburn's heels in second and third ranking are Elvis
Presley and Bob Marley, for their signature quiff and dreadlocks,
respectively. Jennifer Aniston's 'Rachel' hair - the highlighted and
layered 'do of her Friends days - sits pretty in fourth place, while Amy
Winehouse proves that beehives are not just a Holly Golightly fad, at
number five.
