Are Pinault and Hayek Moving To London?
FRANCOIS
PINAULT could soon pop in for tea with his
company's newest acquisition, Christopher Kane, as reports
suggest the Kering chairman and CEO is seeking a London home. The
French billionaire's wife, actress Salma Hayek, was spotted leaving
Claridge's with a top London property agent on Thursday - The
Sunday Times reports - and spent the day viewing family homes
in Belgravia, Kensington and Notting Hill.
Pinault's spokesperson, however, was keen to affirm
that the couple's house-hunting does not foreshadow a move to the UK. Bernard Arnault - chairman of Kering's major competitor LVMH - applied for Belgian citizenship in 2012; an action that was criticised by the media, especially in France, as tantamount to tax evasion. He later withdrew the application.
"Francois-Henri Pinault and Salma Hayek intend to rent a house in London, where Hayek already spends a lot of time, especially for her film career," a spokesperson for Kering confirmed. "Pinault will not be domiciled in the UK and remains a French resident."
Kering also controls two other British labels - Stella McCartney and Alexander McQueen.
